The Sandwich Housing Authority recently received Town Meeting approval for a commitment of $1,850,000 in Community Preservation Act Funds for the development of 24 units of affordable rental housing on existing Authority land. The SHA has now begun the process of obtaining the remaining $5.2 million from private and governmental funding sources potentially including Low Income Housing Tax Credit financing and traditional rental income-based mortgages. The Authority is also continuing to work towards securing the necessary local permitting. The SHA is very appreciative of the support of Town Meeting, as well as the Board of Selectmen, the Finance Committee, and the Community Preservation Committee in supporting this funding proposal. In addition to providing much-needed development capital, approval of this funding is key to demonstrating local support for this project, a key factor in receiving State or Federal funding.
