Programs Offered:

The Sandwich Housing Authority provides housing services under several programs (click any program for more details):

The Elderly/Handicapped Housing Program (Chapter 667) provides housing for qualified low-income elderly and handicapped persons, as defined in Massachusetts General Law Chapter 121B.

The Alternative Housing Voucher Program (AHVP) provides rental vouchers to disabled applicants who are not elderly and who have been determined eligible for Chapter 667 (elderly and disabled) housing.

The Family Housing Program (Chapter 705) is a state-funded program that aims to provide housing for low-income families in neighborhoods throughout the state.

The Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program (MRVP), provides both tenant and project-based rental subsidies. The tenant-based voucher, which is known as Mobile, is assigned to the Participant and is valid for any housing unit that meets the standards of the state sanitary code. Project Based vouchers are assigned to a specific housing unit or development.

The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) increases affordable housing choices for very low-income households by helping families pay a portion of their rent in privately owned housing.

The Special Needs Housing programs (Chapters 689 & 167) are designed to provide housing with specialized services for persons with mental illness, mental retardation or physical disabilities. The purpose of these programs is to provide onsite services so tenants can maintain a maximum level of independence.
