Hansen Village is an innovative housing development located off of Cotuit Road in Sandwich, which encompasses units for elders and special needs individuals under a pilot program funded by the Executive Office of Communities and Development.

This pilot program is the first in the state  and integrates eight Department of Mental Health residents in one bedroom apartments within our complex of 36 elderly residential units.

Also on-site is a congregate house for eight residents with combination of private living quarters and shared kitchen facilities and common areas. as well as a group home for four residents administered by The Department of Mental Retardation .

Hansen Village abuts Heritage Park, Tradewinds Plaza, and Canterbury Plaza which allows residents access to a wide variety of retail, and food service establishments, as well as medical offices and a movie theater.

The location and  layout of Hansen Village, as well as the programs provided,  all allow residents to remain actively involved in their community -- whether doing arts and crafts or just gathering around the TV in the community room to watch the ballgame.
